Quick answer

Can chin filler fix a weak chin?

For a mild to moderate weak or recessed chin, often yes. Filler placed on the bone brings the chin forward and can add a little length, which balances the nose and lips in profile. It cannot match a chin implant for a large change. If your chin sits well back, we will tell you and suggest a surgical opinion.

Profile balancing

What chin filler can change

The chin anchors the lower third of the face. Small changes here alter how the nose, lips and jawline read, especially from the side.

Projection

A chin that sits back

Filler on the front of the chin bone brings it forward, so the chin lines up better with your lips in profile.

Length

A short chin

Adding height at the base of the chin lengthens the lower face. On a round face, this can give a more oval outline.

Proportion

Nose, lips and chin together

A stronger chin can make the nose look smaller from the side without touching the nose. Some clients add nose or lip filler for full profile balancing.

Symmetry

Mild unevenness

A little filler on one side can even out a chin that is slightly off-centre or flatter on one side.

Suitability

Who chin filler suits

Chin filler is a strong option for a mild to moderate weak chin. We look at your profile and your bite first, because some chins need a different answer.

Book

Often suitable for

Men and women with a short, flat or slightly recessed chin who want a stronger, better-balanced profile.

Ask first

Talk to us before booking if

You have had chin filler or a chin implant before, have dental work or braces planned, have an autoimmune condition, take blood-thinning medicines, or have reacted to filler in the past.

Not the right fit

When we suggest something else

A chin that sits far back, often linked to the jaw or the bite, may need a surgical opinion rather than filler. We treat only adults 18 or over. We postpone treatment during pregnancy and breastfeeding, and while there is infection or a breakout on the chin.

Your visit

Your chin filler appointment, step by step

We plan from the side as well as the front, because that is where a chin makes the most difference.

  1. Profile consultation

A consultation of about 45 minutes, with your medical history taken first. We study your face from the front and both sides, talk through the line from nose to lips to chin, and agree the plan and price.

  2. Numbing and preparation

Numbing cream goes on and the skin is cleaned. We mark the points that set how far forward and how long your chin will be.

  3. Shaping the chin

Filler is placed deep on the bone in small amounts and gently shaped. Before we finish, we check your profile in the mirror together.

  4. Aftercare and review

You go home with written aftercare and a direct line to us. At the two-week review we look at the settled result from every angle.

Chin filler before and after: what to expect

Recovery is usually quick. The chin can feel firm and tender for a few days, and most people go back to work the next day.

  1. Days one to three

Expect some swelling and tenderness, especially when you touch your chin or chew. The chin may look slightly longer or fuller than planned until this settles.

  2. What to avoid

Avoid strenuous exercise, heat such as saunas and hot yoga, and alcohol for 24 to 48 hours. For two weeks avoid facials, massage and firm pressure on the chin, including tight straps and resting it on your hand.

  3. Shaving and make-up

Men can usually shave gently from the next day with a clean razor. Keep make-up off the treated area for the rest of the day.

  4. At two weeks

The filler has softened and settled into place. Any small difference between sides is easier to judge now, and we review it with you. Avoid booking within two weeks of a wedding or big event.

  5. How long it lasts

Chin filler usually lasts 12 to 18 months, sometimes longer, because the chin moves less than most areas. A top-up before it has fully faded keeps your profile steady.

Safety first. Because the chin sits just below the lower lip, we watch the lip and chin skin closely at every stage. We stop at the first sign of anything unusual. Contact us straight away about pain that gets worse, skin that turns white, blotchy, grey or blue-purple, or an area that feels cold. Any change in your vision: call 999 or go to A&E. Frequently asked questions

Chin filler FAQs

Straight answers about comfort, results, prices and aftercare.

How much does chin filler cost in Doncaster?

Chin filler at Dermacy Clinic is £190 for 1 ml; larger plans are quoted at consultation. You see the full price before anything is injected, and nothing is added on the day without your agreement. Medicred patient finance is available, subject to approval.

How long does chin filler last?

Usually 12 to 18 months. The chin is firm and does not move much, so filler there breaks down slowly, and some people keep a visible result for longer. It fades gradually rather than all at once. A top-up before it has gone keeps the shape consistent and often needs less filler.

How much chin filler do I need?

Many people see a clear change with 1 ml. A more recessed or longer chin, or a male profile, can need more, sometimes built up over two visits. We prefer to build up gradually rather than overcorrect, and you will know the amount and cost before we start.

Does chin filler hurt?

Most people find it very manageable. We apply numbing cream first, and many fillers have a small amount of local anaesthetic mixed in. You will feel pressure as the filler goes in deep on the bone. The chin can feel tender for a few days afterwards, especially when chewing.

How long does chin filler swelling last?

Swelling is usually mild and goes down within a few days to a week. The chin can look a little uneven while it settles, which is normal. Bruising may appear under the chin or near the lower lip and fades within one to two weeks. The final shape shows at around two weeks, when we review it.

Can chin filler make your nose look smaller?

In profile, it often can. When the chin sits back, the nose looks larger by comparison. Bringing the chin forward balances the two, so the nose tends to look smaller without being treated at all. If the nose has a bump, a non-surgical nose job at £300 can be planned alongside.

What is profile balancing?

Profile balancing means planning the chin, nose and lips together from the side, so the three line up. The chin is usually the starting point. Not everyone needs all three areas. Many people only need chin filler to see a better-balanced side view.

Does chin filler work for men?

Yes. Many men ask for a stronger, more defined chin. For men we usually aim for a wider, squarer chin with more forward projection, often alongside jawline filler. Women more often want a softer, slightly tapered chin. Either way, the plan follows your face, not a template.

Should I get chin filler or jawline filler?

It depends where your lower face looks weakest. Chin filler changes projection and length at the front. Jawline filler sharpens the line from ear to chin. Many people need the chin first, and others need both for a defined result. Jawline filler is £700 for 4 ml, and we will tell you if the chin alone is enough.

What is the difference between chin filler and a chin implant?

Filler is non-surgical, takes minutes and can be dissolved, but it usually lasts 12 to 18 months. An implant or chin surgery is an operation with a longer recovery, and is meant to be long-lasting. For a small to moderate change filler is often enough. For a large change, surgery may suit you better, and we will say so.

Can chin filler help a double chin?

Not directly, because filler does not remove fat under the chin. By bringing a recessed chin forward, it can sharpen the neckline in profile, so a mild double chin can look less obvious. Where the fullness is mainly fat, we will tell you honestly that filler is not the answer.

Can chin filler migrate?

It is unusual when the right amount is placed deep on the bone. Pressure in the first two weeks, such as resting your chin on your hand, and overfilling both raise the chance. Because we use hyaluronic acid filler, it can be dissolved if it moves or sits unevenly.

Is chin filler permanent?

No. Hyaluronic acid filler is broken down by your body over time. If you are unhappy, or anything goes wrong, it can be dissolved with hyaluronidase, and dissolving existing filler costs £150. That reversibility is the reason we do not use permanent fillers.

Is chin filler safe?

For most healthy adults, chin filler is low risk when a trained team uses dissolvable filler. Expect swelling, tenderness and sometimes bruising. Rare risks include infection, lumps and a blocked blood vessel, so we plan around the blood vessels in the chin. You must be 18 or over, as the law in England requires.

Which filler brands do you use?

We use hyaluronic acid fillers from Juvéderm, Stylage and Fillmed, all of which can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if ever needed. For the chin we choose firm gels made for projection, such as Juvéderm Volux or Stylage M. The exact product is chosen for your face at consultation.
