- You will not be sold all three. You will be recommended one, with the reason, in writing, and the total before you book.
- If you have had Profhilo elsewhere, bring that up — it changes the timing of what we do next, and sometimes the product.
- Under the eyes is its own conversation. Some boosters are right there and some are absolutely not, because the wrong one in that area causes puffiness that lasts. We only use a range that has a manufacturer protocol for the eye area, and only after the scan.
Profhilo in Doncaster
Profhilo is the one most people have heard of before they ring us, and it does something the other three do not: it works on firmness. If your skin has lost its bounce rather than its glow — a softening jawline, a crepey neck, cheeks gone slack — this is usually the answer.
Why it firms instead of fills
Profhilo carries 64 mg of hyaluronic acid in a single 2 ml syringe and uses no chemical cross-linker at all. That is why it spreads through the tissue and tightens, rather than staying put and adding volume. It is a bioremodelling treatment, not a filler.
Ten injections, five each side
Placed at five defined points on each side of the face — the BAP technique — chosen so the product diffuses safely across the widest area. Around fifteen minutes, and nothing about your face is reshaped.
Two sessions, four weeks apart
That is the full course, and it is the part people skip. One session on its own underdelivers, which is the commonest reason you hear that Profhilo did nothing. Results build over the following weeks and usually hold around six months.
Face, neck, décolletage and hands
The neck is where it earns its reputation. Skin there is thin, creases early, and is the area people most regret ignoring. Hands respond well and are usually treated alongside the face.

Profhilo is the most requested booster and the most often mis-sold. If your scan shows dehydration and dullness rather than laxity, NCTF or SKINVIVE will give you a better result for less money — and we will say so, even though Profhilo is the bigger booking.

- The assessment fee comes off your treatment. Forty-five minutes, skin analysis imaging and a written plan. If you go ahead it has cost you nothing. The national chains charge a consultation deposit for considerably less.
- Areas combine cheaply. Face with neck, or face with hands, share one appointment and one setup. Booking them separately costs you more for no benefit.

Hydration put where your moisturiser cannot go
A skin booster is hyaluronic acid — the molecule your own skin uses to hold water — placed into the skin itself with very fine needles. Some boosters carry vitamins, amino acids and minerals with it. Your moisturiser works on the surface. This works in the layer that actually decides how your skin looks.
Water back in the skin
Hyaluronic acid holds up to a thousand times its own weight in water. Put it in the dermis and skin plumps from the inside — which is why the first thing people notice is glow, not change.
Your own collagen, switched back on
The skin responds to the treatment by making more of its own collagen and elastin. That is the part that keeps working for months after the appointment, and the part a cream cannot do.

And it is not anti-wrinkle injections either. Those stop a muscle moving. A booster does not touch your movement — you can raise your eyebrows the next morning exactly as you did the day before. Plenty of our clients have all three, for three different reasons. Plenty have only this.
If this started around the menopause, you are not imagining it
Women tell us the same thing in the same words: “my skin changed almost overnight and nothing I use works any more.” That is not vanity and it is not in your head.
- What actually happens. Oestrogen holds collagen and water in the skin. When it falls, both go — and the first years after that fall are when most of the loss happens. Skin gets drier, thinner and flatter far faster than it did in your forties.
- Why your skincare stopped working. It did not get worse. Your skin did. A cream that was enough at 45 is working on a surface that now loses water faster than it can be topped up from a jar.
- Why boosters suit this particular problem. The complaint is hydration and skin quality, not volume and not movement. That is precisely the hole a booster fills — and precisely why filler and anti-wrinkle injections leave menopausal women disappointed.
- What is realistic. Skin that feels comfortable again, holds makeup, and stops looking grey by the afternoon. Not the face you had at 35. We will not pretend otherwise, and you would not believe us if we did.

A milestone birthday: three months
Enough for a full course and for your skin to settle so it looks like you, not like you have just had something done.
Holiday, or straight after one
Not on freshly burnt or newly tanned skin. Afterwards is ideal — sun leaves skin dehydrated and dull, and this is exactly the repair job. Book for the week you get back.
Leaving it late?
Say so when you call. Sometimes the right answer is a single-session range rather than a course, and sometimes the honest answer is that we cannot get you there in time — in which case we will tell you and suggest something that can.
What happens, from first call to the day you notice
A 45-minute skin analysis
It starts on the machine. Hydration, oil, redness, pigment and texture are imaged and recorded, your history and medication are taken, and your goals are written down in your words. You leave with a plan and a total, whether or not you book.
The appointment itself
Skin cleansed, numbing cream where it is wanted, then a series of very fine injections placed across the area. Fifteen to thirty minutes for most people. Clients describe it as small sharp scratches rather than pain — and one of our ranges carries its own anaesthetic.
The first few hours
Small raised bumps at each injection point are normal and expected, and they settle within a few hours to a day. Some redness. You can go back to work; most people would rather go home first.
The first week
The bumps have gone. Skin usually feels different before it looks different — less tight, less thirsty. This is the point at which people stop worrying it has not worked.
Weeks four to six
This is where it arrives. Glow, smoother texture, makeup sitting properly again. On a course, the second session lands in this window and builds on it.
The rescan
Same machine, same settings, side by side with day one. You see the change measured. If it has not moved as expected, the plan changes rather than repeats.
Maintenance
Most people come back every six months or so. Some ranges hold longer. You will be told when, and what it costs, at the start — not discovered later.
Who this does not work for
Every clinic publishes who a treatment suits. Almost nobody publishes who it disappoints, which is why so many people spend the money twice. Here is the honest version.
- Dull, dehydrated skin that has lost its glow
- Fine crepe on the face, neck, chest or hands
- Menopausal skin change — the group this helps most
- Makeup that has started sitting in the skin
- Anyone who wants to look well without looking treated
- Smokers and sun-damaged skin, where the skin needs feeding
- As groundwork before or alongside peels, microneedling or laser
- Deep folds and heavy lines. A booster will not fill them. If that is your concern you want a different treatment, and we will say so rather than take the booking.
- Significant sagging and jowls. Skin quality is not skin laxity. Boosters improve the surface; they do not lift. Beyond a certain point nothing injectable will.
- Expecting a change in a week, or a change in the mirror the next morning. This is a four-to-six-week treatment. If you need results by Saturday, this is not it.
- Anyone expecting a new face. The point of this treatment is that nobody can tell. If you want visible change, say so at the assessment and we will discuss what actually does that.
- Pregnant or breastfeeding. We wait.
- Active infection, inflamed skin or a flaring skin condition in the area. We settle it first.
- Skin being wrecked at home. If the scan shows a barrier destroyed by over-exfoliating, we fix that before we inject anything. It is cheaper and it works better.
Independent review sites show a real split on injectable boosters — a meaningful number of people report they were underwhelmed. Almost always it is because the wrong product was chosen for the wrong problem, or nothing was measured to begin with. That is exactly what the scan is for.

What exactly is a skin booster?

Is it the same as filler?

Skin usually feels different within the first week — less tight, less thirsty. The visible change arrives at four to six weeks. If you need to look your best on a particular date, count backwards from that.
Does it hurt?
Most people describe small sharp scratches rather than pain. Numbing cream is used where you want it, and one of our ranges has anaesthetic built into the product. It is over in fifteen to thirty minutes.
What are the little bumps afterwards?
Normal, expected and temporary. Each injection point can leave a small raised bump that settles within a few hours to a day. You will be told exactly what to expect for the range you are having, so nothing is a surprise in the car mirror.
Is there any downtime?
Very little. Some redness and the bumps above. No gym, sauna, steam room or heavy heat for 24 hours, no makeup for the rest of the day, and sunscreen as usual. Most people go back to work the same day.
Which one will I be given?
Whichever the scan supports. We hold four ranges precisely so the answer is not always the same — Fillmed NCTF for dull, tired, undernourished skin, SKINVIVE by Juvéderm for lasting hydration and texture in the fewest appointments, and Dorothy where the priority is immediate plumping and menopausal dryness.
Can I have it under my eyes?
Only with a range that has a manufacturer protocol for the eye area, and only after the scan. This matters: the wrong product under the eye holds water where you do not want it and causes puffiness that can last for months. Any clinic that offers under-eye boosters without asking which product is not thinking about it hard enough.
Can I have it on my neck, chest or hands?
Yes, and they are where it often shows most, because they have had thirty years of sun and no attention. The neck is treated with its own protocol rather than as a leftover from the face. Combining areas in one appointment costs less than booking them separately.
My skin changed with the menopause. Will this help?
This is the group it helps most. Falling oestrogen takes collagen and skin water with it, which is why skincare that was enough at 45 suddenly is not. Boosters address exactly that — hydration and skin quality — rather than volume or movement, which is why filler and anti-wrinkle injections leave so many women disappointed at this stage.
Can I have it with anti-wrinkle injections or filler?
Yes, and many clients do, because the three do different jobs. Order and spacing matter, so bring anything you have had elsewhere and its dates to your assessment.
I’ve had Profhilo before. Does that change anything?
It can change both the timing and the product. Tell us what you had and when, and what you thought of the result — especially if you were underwhelmed, because that usually tells us something useful about which range suits your skin.
What if it does not work for me?
You will find out from the same scan we took at the start, not from our opinion. If it has not moved, the plan changes rather than repeats — a different range, a different problem addressed first, or an honest conversation that injectables are not the answer for your skin. We would rather lose a course than sell you the same thing twice.
Is it safe?
The products we use are well established and widely used in UK clinics, and they are chosen against your medical history at the assessment. Like any injectable treatment there are risks, including bruising, swelling, lumps and, rarely, more serious complications. They are set out properly at your assessment along with what to do about them — not buried in small print.
Who should not have it?
Anyone pregnant or breastfeeding, anyone with active infection or inflamed skin in the area, and anyone whose skin barrier is currently damaged — we repair that first. It is also the wrong treatment for deep folds and for significant sagging, and we will tell you so rather than take the booking.
How long do results last?
Typically around six months, longer with some ranges and shorter if you smoke, sunbathe or skip the maintenance session. It is a treatment you keep up, not one you finish — and you will be told the maintenance cost at the start so it is never a surprise.
